FIRST WELDINGS

Welding iron is not much more difficult than drawing with charcoal on a piece of paper. The great advantage is that you can stretch the lines into space, which makes the whole difference, and a dream-come-through for me. I bought my first welding gear in 1993 when I obtained a public commission for The University of Bergen. Before I started on the job, I had to do some experimenting with the new tools and soon found a way to use geometry. Not as a logical method, but more as a point of departure for more or less absurd inventions.
